Q&A

How often should my dog be groomed?

Every dog should be groomed at least 3 to 4 times a year. Some are on a 6 week schedule but it depends on the dog and its needs. Grooming services help preventative health maintenance on your dog, we check ears, teeth, and look out for any unusual growths that you the owner may not notice. We do not replace the proper veterinarian care that your dog needs. We just help look out for the best for your dog and may suggest some things that may need attention.

How early should my puppy see a groomer?

We suggest that your puppy begin to see a professional groomer as soon as they have received their first set of puppy vaccines. A Rabies expiration date is required by the Health Department. We also like to keep record of the dogs current weight.

What service's do you provide?

We offer self-service tubs, full service bathing and Grooming, nail trims, anal glands and more. Please review the price list for more services.

May I stay and watch my dog be bathed or groomed?

No, unfortunately it causes the dogs more anxiety or excitement by having their pet parent there. We also don't allow pet parents to "pop-in and check on their dog" or arrive before being called for pick up. Some dogs see, hear, or even smell their pet parent and may become too excited to finish their groom.

We do allow pet parents to watch, help or assist with nail trims.

My dog "hates nail trims" how do you handle that?

We can fairly say that ALL dogs don't exactly love having their nails done so we have some tips and tricks that can help alleviate some of their stress. We like to schedule nail trims when there is a  grooming table available to use and have plenty of different treats on hand to reward your good pup.

How long should I expect my dog's grooming appointment to be?

We can tell you that at time of booking, and also at check in. The thickness of their coat, condition of the coat, and their behavior are all a consideration in determining time. If you have a dog that isn't very cooperative with grooming, a senior, is 100lbs plus, or has a very thick coat, it may take longer. We have a prompt drop-off/pick up policy so we will always tell you at drop off the timeline to expect.

Do you use cages?

Yes, at Good Karma Dog Spa we feel that cages or as we like to call them kennel's, are required for the safety, security, and comfort of your dog. Without the use of kennels we cannot ensure that your dog won't be attacked by another dog, accidentally stepped on by our groomers, or run out the door onto Main Street.

Are dogs required to be leashed?

Yes! At all times. We do require them to be on a no longer than 6 foot leash, and please, no flexi-leashes. (Unless they stay locked at 6ft)  We have slip leads by the door if you need to borrow one.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule my appointment?

Please give us at least 24hr notice if you do need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. We will need time to try to rebook that time slot and the more notice we get, the better chance we have at getting another client booked. We use a system that texts our clients their appointment day/time. It also allows clients to confirm an appointment, cancel, or reschedule by text if you are not able to call for some reason. It also has capability to accept pictures (rabies certificates etc).

Is there a No show or Cancelation policy?

Yes, we would like at least 24hr notice of a cancelation. Failure to do so, or no show to an appointment will result in a fee of 50% your missed appointment.

Voicemail, text, and email is accepted.

What about fleas?

Fleas happen, and when they do, please let us know! We have other dogs here that need to be protected from your dogs fleas and if we can prepare instead of finding out during bathing or drying it certainly helps. We can do our best to keep fleas and ticks at bay by doing some preventive measures at home.  Starting with protecting your dog (call your vet for advice on which ones they recommend), then your house (sprays, flea bombs or diatomaceous earth) and then your yard. Fun fact- Cats can give dogs fleas and affect humans as well.

What do you do to insure my beloved dog is safe while at Good Karma Dog Spa?

If you are here doing a self wash, shopping retail, dropping off or picking up, please always be aware of your dog on the end of its leash. We don't allow dogs to "meet" or get close enough to sniff eachother. We deal with dogs that have dog aggression, leash aggression, that are nervous, etc and we would never want an issue. You may be asked to step to the side with your dog to let another one pass or other accommodations to help dogs feel at ease while here but also safe.

"Oh its Ok! My dog is nice, he Loves dogs!"

No, again, this is not the environment we want dogs meeting.

My dog is dog aggressive, can they still come to Good Karma?
